Jamie Donaldson’s three-shot victory Sunday at the Thailand Golf Championship checked a number of boxes.
It was his first win in 28 starts this year.
It earned him a spot in the 2016 Open Championship.
And it pushed him back inside the top 50 in the world rankings, securing an invitation to the Masters. Donaldson began the week at No. 68.
“I needed to win to get into the top 50,” he said afterward, “so there was a lot to play for and hopefully it all comes to fruition next year.”
Lee Westwood’s tie for second was just as significant.
