Developments in caddies v. PGA Tour lawsuit ... sort of

U.S. District Court judge Vince Chhabria heard arguments on Thursday over a motion to dismiss a lawsuit filed by a group of caddies against the PGA Tour earlier this year.

Attorneys for the Tour and the caddies attended the hearing, but Chhabria issued no decision, instead he requested more information about what seems to be the central theme of the lawsuit.

The caddies filed the lawsuit in February claiming they are forced to wear logo-covered bibs without receiving any proceeds from contracts that lawyers for the caddies estimate is valued at $50 million annually.

Chhabria requested briefs on when the Tour began requiring caddies wear bibs and when the circuit “changed from generic names such as the San Diego Open to ‘sponsored’ names such as the Farmers Insurance Open.
