Lydia Ko got herself into contention at the Evian Championship Friday despite playing on a sore left ankle.
Ko shot a 2-under-par 69 for a second consecutive day, leaving her tied for fifth, five shots behind the leader, Mi Hyang Lee.
Ko said she rolled her ankle stepping on a “metal stump” in Thursday’s first round while walking the 14th hole. She played Friday with supportive tape on her leg.
“It’s better than it looks,” Ko said. “It’s kind of bothering me, but it’s not painful. It doesn’t affect me when I’m hitting the ball.
