Having not finished outside of the top 10 on the PGA Tour since May – a span that includes his first major victory, at the U.S. Open – and having opened play at Glen Abbey Golf Club with a 6-under 66 to grab a share of the first-round lead, Dustin Johnson was justifiably surprised by his opening four holes Friday at the RBC Canadian Open.
The world’s second-ranked golfer made par on his opening hole, the par-4 10th, but then Johnson went out of character, looking far from the golfer that has dominated pro golf for much of these last two months (No, it wasn’t because he shaved his beard this week).
