Friday brought good news and bad news for the local fans who wish to see a Canadian golfer win the RBC Canadian Open for the first time since 1954: Graham DeLaet withdrew, but David Hearn made a run.
DeLaet, the top-ranked Canadian at No. 84 in the Official World Golf Ranking, pulled out Friday with a lingering thumb injury. He opened with a 72 on Thursday.
But Hearn, the second-ranked Canadian at No. 128, picked up the slack with a bogey-free 64. He jumped 30 spots, making eight birdies on the day and finishing with two straight at Nos.
