KAPALUA, Hawaii – The defending champion of the Hyundai Tournament of Champions is ranked 10th in the world and hasn’t finished outside the top-10 in an event since last September.
Yet, Patrick Reed has been fairly unassuming here at Kapalua. He can thank Jordan Spieth and Jason Day for that. It’s the first time the top-two ranked players in the world are in this field in more than a decade.
Reed isn’t fond of down time. He only went 10 days without touching a club during the holidays, and he’s played in seven events (including the Presidents Cup) since the Tour Championship.
