OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. – His work was done for the day – early once again – and Bryson DeChambeau was trying to figure out what to do with the rest of his afternoon on a postcard-worthy day at venerable Olympia Fields outside Chicago.
“I think I’ll go play the 17th and 18th holes,” he said. “I haven’t played those two yet.”
It’s been that type of week for DeChambeau, the part-technician, part-artist golfer who had just mowed down yet another opponent at the 115th U.S. Amateur. This time it was USC's feisty Sean Crocker standing in his path, and after surrendering an early lead and letting Crocker square things up through six holes, DeChambeau steadily made his move.
