CARMEL, Ind. – Jason Day withdrew midway through the BMW Championship on Sunday because of a back injury.
Day was injured on the ninth hole at Crooked Stick, when he reached down to put his tee in the ground. He pulled out of the tournament for precautionary reasons, his manager, Bud Martin, said in the clubhouse afterward.
Day, who headed to the training room for treatment, was not made available for comment.
“Instead of forcing it,” Martin said, “it was more prudent to come in, get it worked on and deal with it.
