Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. — Asked for his upcoming schedule following his victory at the recent WGC-Cadillac Match Play, Rory McIlroy rattled off the five in a row that he planned to play – counting the Match Play and concluding with the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open – and said it was a busy stretch between majors.

But the Northern Irishman didn’t mean the Masters and U.S. Open. He meant the Masters and the title of king of the Emerald Isle.

“The Irish Open is a major championship for me this year,” McIlroy said.
