Brutal scoring conditions marked the first day of the U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur, as Sarah Davison was the only player to match par.
The 35-year-old shot Even-Par 72 on Day One at Squire Creek Country Club, where Davison is a member, to take a two-shot lead on the field in Choudrant, La.
Davison, who started on No. 10, actually played her first 12 holes in 3 over before birdies on three of her last six holes (including her final one) brought her back level with par.
“It was a little slow start – windy, cold. I just tried to make pars on that portion of the golf course, and get through that knowing the sun would come out and warm up,” said Davison, of Choudrant, La.
