UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – Golf Channel’s Tim Rosaforte confirmed with USGA executive director Mike Davis that the final hole at Chambers Bay will play as a par 5 for Sunday’s final round.
Numerous sources within the USGA have said Davis planned to play the closing hole as a par 4 and the first hole as a par 5 for the final round, after swapping par on the holes each day this week.
According to Rosaforte, Davis made the decision to play the closing hole as a par 5 on Saturday when the forecast called for winds out of the west for the final round.
