DORAL, Fla. — Certainly, the steady stream of congratulatory handshakes offered a constant reminder that something special had occurred. But for the true meaning of last week’s Honda Classic victory, nothing resonated quite like the sense of relief David Clark felt when he realized he had not lost “the caddie’s trophy.”
Misplaced it, yes. But lost it, no.
And for that, Clark owed thanks to the same man who actually produced the win at the Honda, Adam Scott.
“He asked me if I had the flag,” Clark said. “I thought I had forgotten it.”
Instead, Scott revealed to his caddie that he had recovered the flag from the trunk of the car, returning it to Clark.
