The University of Alabama women’s golf team rolled to victory over a tough field at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at Long Cove Club in Hilton Head Island, S.C., on Sunday.
The Crimson Tide, No. 7 in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings, opened the first round shooting 6-under 278. They never looked back as they maintained the lead and finished 16-over 868, seven strokes better than No. 29 Virginia.
Cheyenne Knight, No. 37 in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings, finished at the top of the leaderboard. She fired an opening-round 4-under 67 and carded 74-72 to bring her score to an even-par 213.
