Craig Parry welcomes busy weekends with golfers his own age

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Australian Craig “Popeye” Parry is setting sail on the next stage of his golf career this week at the Allianz Championship.

Parry, who turned 50 in January, is best known for the bulging biceps that earned him his nickname and for holing out from the fairway at 18 for eagle to win the 2004 Ford Championship at Doral in a sudden-death playoff.

“Oh, it comes up all the time,” Parry said, especially when TV replays his 6-iron from 178 yards at the Blue Monster during tournament week. “It’s a good memory to be reminded of.
