Sang-Moon Bae, a two-time PGA winner who hails from South Korea, must temporarily put his professional golf career on hold. Bae lost a legal battle to defer his conscription and must return home to complete his military service.
Bae, 29, was charged in February with violating South Korea’s military service regulations after failing to secure an extension to his overseas travel permit. He had been granted U.S. residency in 2013. He was allowed to stay in the U.S. while a lawsuit was pending back home in Daegu. However, a court backed the Military Manpower Administration.
Following the decision, Bae said he would report for military duty.
