EDISON, N.J. – Erik Compton withdrew from The Barclays on Thursday just eight holes into his week citing “respiratory issues,” according to PGA Tour officials.
Compton, who was 6 over when he withdrew, is 122nd on the FedEx Cup point list and will not qualify for next week’s Deutsche Bank Championship.
Compton tweeted Thursday afternoon:
Not how I wanted to end a season. No amount of determination was going to get me healthy, but I had to try. I am down, I will get up.
