GREENSBORO, N.C. – Erik Compton is no stranger to the PGA Tour’s anti-doping testing program, but on Wednesday he may have keyed into something new.
Compton, who opened with a 62 on Thursday at the Wyndham Championship for a share of the first-round lead with William McGirt, said he was pulled to take a drug test on Wednesday after his pro-am.
“I drank two vodka tonics to get my kidneys working,” said Compton, who scorched his closing nine (he started on No. 10) with seven birdies and no bogeys. “I don’t drink alcohol.
