Stewart Cink has announced that he is stepping away from competitive golf to be with his wife, Lisa, who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.
Cink was expected to play this week's Wells Fargo Championship, where he has four straight top-25 finishes, but withdrew Tuesday. He then posted a note to his more than 1.1 million Twitter followers explaining his decision:
Since I was 15 years old, @lisacink has been my biggest supporter. It's now time for me to return the favor. pic.twitter.com/4mVRMsmfL4
