For the second consecutive year, Cincinnati State and Sandhills Community College battled for the NJCAA Division III Men’s Golf Championship.
In 2014, Sandhills CC, of Pinehurst, N.C., captured the title by 15 shots. This year, Cincinnati State turned the result in its favor with a two-shot victory June 5 over the Lake Course at Chautauqua (N.Y.) Golf Club.
It was the first national title in any sport for Cincinnati State, which finished at 47-over 1,194. Leading the Surge was sophomore Taylor Suggs, who shot 3-under 285 to finish five shots ahead of Sandhills’ Brandon Grzywacz to win medalist honors.
