A three-shot lead proved unnerving for Cheng Jin in the early going of the final round of the Players Amateur, but he adjusted and it got him to the winner’s circle.
Jin bogeyed his first three holes Monday at Berkeley Hall Club in Bluffton, S.C., but rebounded remarkably. He would post birdies on Nos. 4 and 7 and four more on the back nine against just one bogey to close out at 13 under and capture the win by two strokes.
“I had an awful start,” Jin said. “I just tried to calm myself down and stick to my game.
