An LPGA victory for Chella Choi at the Marathon Classic also meant the potential end to a father-daughter caddie relationship. Ji Leon Choi promised his daughter he would caddie for her until she won on the tour, and that happened Sunday in Sylvania, Ohio. How the rest plays out is yet to be determined – Chella isn’t so sure she wants her father to leave her side just yet.
“My father wants to retire because we promise, but I don’t know,” Choi said. “We will talk later.”
Chella Choi, 24, earned her first LPGA victory in her 157th start, and she did it by beating early-week leader Ha Na Jang in a playoff.
