Charley Hull shoos away butterflies at home club to shoot 68 in Women’s British Open

WOBURN, England – Charley Hull returned a 4-under 68 in the opening round of the $3 million Ricoh Women’s British Open at Woburn Golf Club.

Not bad for someone who was just hoping not to make a fool of herself on the first tee.

Hull, 20, ballooned her tee shot on the par-4, 380-yard opening hole because she was so nervous. There was a reason for the butterflies: Hull has a home gig this week over Woburn’s Marquess Course.

Hull has been a Woburn member since age 11. The first tee was packed with fans, many of them members, out to cheer her on.
