Champions Golf Club in Houston will host the U.S. Women’s Open on its Cypress Creek Course in 2020, the USGA announced Friday.
The club hosted the U.S. Open in 1969 and the Ryder Cup in 1967. The club also hosted the U.S. Amateur in 1993, the U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur and multiple Tour Championships on the PGA Tour.
The Champions Club was founded in 1957 by Hall of Famers Jackie Burke Jr. and Jimmy Demaret. Burke remains the club president today.
“Having the U.S. Women’s Open at Champions Golf Club is a rare privilege,” Burke said in a statement.
