VIRGINIA WATER, England (AP) -- English golfer Paul Casey has opted not to rejoin the European Tour for next season, meaning he will be ineligible for the 2016 Ryder Cup at Hazeltine in Minnesota.
Casey, who is based mainly in Arizona, gave up his membership after deciding to concentrate on the PGA Tour in order to get back into the world's top 50.
The former No. 3-ranked Casey has climbed from No. 75 in the rankings at the end of last season to his current position of No. 24, but even this week's change in membership criteria has not been enough to persuade him to rejoin.
