CLE ELUM, Wash. –– University of Oregon men's golf coach Casey Martin shot 70-74 in a U.S. Open sectional qualifier at Tumble Creek Club, missing by five strokes.
"I'm exhausted," Martin said. "It's a really tough course, and it kind of zaps you."
Martin seemed to be zapped by his putter most of all. He missed at least half a dozen putts in the 5- to 8-foot range.
Regardless, Martin took the time to discuss several important issues in golf.
He talked about his former Stanford teammate, Tiger Woods: "I'm just cheering for him like you can't believe.
