Car dealer buys donated Augusta National green jacket

A Houston non-profit store had Christmas come a little bit late, when it sold an Augusta Nation member's green jacket for thousands on Friday morning.

A volunteer at The Guild Shop found the jacket in late December while going through a box of donated clothes from an anonymous donor. The jacket is apparently from the 1960s, and was sold to a Pennsylvania car dealer for an undisclosed price.

However, shop executive director Gaye Jackson told ESPN that she had been advised the jacket would likely go at auction for $18,000. Jackson said the sale "met expectations."

The Guild Shop was able to authenticate the jacket through discussions with Hamilton Tailoring Company, the brand that has been making the jackets since 1967, according to Augusta.
