Callaway attributes much of the success of last season’s XR irons to their cup-face design, which helped players generate ball speed and distance.
Now, with its new XR OS irons, Callaway says it improved the Cup 360 technology to increase forgiveness and help mid- and higher-handicap players get even better performance.
“The face of the XR OS iron is not any larger than a regular XR iron, but we have been able to work on the way that we thin out the material in certain parts of the face and in the areas around the edge of the face, using the cup,” said Alan Hocknell, Callaway’s senior vice president of research and development.
