For one week, at least, two veteran caddies are turning in their golf bags for a microphone.
Jim “Bones” Mackay and John Wood will serve as on-course reporters for the Golf Channel during next week’s RSM Classic in St. Simons Island, Ga.
Mackay, the longtime caddie for Phil Mickelson, and Wood, who worked for Hunter Mahan for nine years and is now looping for Matt Kuchar, will work during the second and third rounds of the event.
“We have gotten to know course reporters very well over the years, and we’re fascinated with everything that goes into producing and covering a professional golf tournament,” Mackay said in a release.
