Bubba Watson backpedals and apologizes at Waste Management Phoenix Open

Bubba Watson moved forward on the leaderboard at the Waste Management Phoenix Open on Friday, and then did some backpeddling on some early-week comments that were critical of the course.

On a challenging, windy day, Watson shot his second consecutive 2-under 69 to climb to 4-under 138 heading into the weekend, well within striking distance of the tournament leaders. On Wednesday, he told reporters in a pre-tournament interview that he was not going to “PC” his comments regarding TPC Scottsdale and the changes architect Tom Weiskopf made to layout to toughen it in 2014. Watson said he didn’t like the golf course.
