British Open spot goes to Reno after Greenbrier canceled (The Associated Press)

ST. ANDREWS, Scotland (AP) -- A spot in the British Open will be offered to the leading finisher in this week's Barracuda Championship.

That exemption was supposed to go to the leading player not already eligible at The Greenbrier Classic until the PGA Tour canceled the event because of deadly flooding in West Virginia.

The Barracuda Championship, which starts Thursday in Reno, Nevada, is held opposite the World Golf Championship at Firestone. The Open will take the leading player not already exempt provided that he is among the top five and ties. That was the same criteria in place for The Greenbrier.
