SOUTHPORT, England — Matt Kuchar bogeyed the 18th hole to fall out of a tie for the lead after his second round of the British Open at Royal Birkdale on Friday.
Jordan Spieth and Brooks Koepka, Kuchar’s co-leaders after the first round, began their second rounds in the afternoon in challenging conditions.
Kuchar, 39, who has yet to win a major championship, is four under-par after two rounds, with Spieth and Koepka sitting at five under from their opening rounds.

Kuchar’s one-over-par round of 71 was only slightly soured by his final hole slip-up, and with rain and stronger winds expected later, his rivals will have to produce outstanding golf to maintain their one-stroke advantage.
