TURNBERRY, Scotland – Carly Booth, scheduled to tee off solo at 7:45 a.m. in the Ricoh Women’s British Open, set her her alarm for 5:20 a.m. But when her brother, Paul, called two hours prior to her wake-up call, a groggy Booth picked up the phone.
Paul, 25, was in Los Angeles competing in the Special Olympics and couldn’t wait to tell little ’sis about his medal collection.
“I woke up thinking, did I speak to my brother?” Booth said after her round. The conversation was a little hazy, but Booth, 23, was pleased to report that Paul took the gold medal in the bench press, fourth place in squat and a bronze medal for his overall performance.
