Bernhard Langer took an eight-shot lead into the final round of the Senior Players Championship, and was still six ahead of the field by the end of the day. That’s the thing about a big cushion – there’s ground to spare.
Langer easily earned the title defense in the third Champions Tour major of the year. After starting his day with a three-putt on the third hole at Belmont (Mass.) Country Club for his first bogey in 48 holes, Langer eagled the next hole. He finished with 3-under 68 and at 19 under for the tournament, wasn’t anywhere near the rest of the field.
