AKRON, Ohio – Daniel Berger withdrew from the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational after only one swing, citing a shoulder injury.
Berger hit his opening tee shot at Firestone Country Club Thursday but pulled out before hitting his approach. Per a PGA Tour media official, Berger originally injured his shoulder during practice last week. He finished T-37 at the U.S. Open two weeks ago in his most recent start.
Despite the early exit, Berger will still receive $50,500 in unofficial money – the equivalent of last-place earnings during this week’s 61-person, no-cut event. He will not receive any FedEx Cup points.
