Charley Hoffman and Daniel Berger couldn't get an individual victory in the 2015 calendar, but their fortunes as a team look more optimistic.
The duo fired an 8-under 64, tied for the best score of the day, in the second round of the Franklin Templeton Shootout to take the lead by a shot.
The mode of play in the Naples, Fla., event switched from scramble on Thursday to modified alternate shot on Friday, but the leading pair didn't seem to notice. Hoffman and Berger were only four strokes better the first day, with their 36 holes of work ending in 20 under.
