WITH THE OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP set to tee off next week at the Old Course in St. Andrews, Scotland, it's a fitting time to recall Ben Hogan's ticker-tape parade down Broadway in New York City after winning the 1953 British Open at Carnoustie. It was Hogan's only appearance in the Open, and the year of the "Hogan Slam" during which he won the Masters and both Opens.
Hogan was one of only two golfers to get a ticker-tape parade in the Big Apple. Here's more from my book THE LONGEST SHOT:
