Beijing event won’t be played this fall, LPGA says

The first tournament on the LPGA’s six-event Asia Swing this fall will not be played, the tour announced today.

The Reignwood Pine Valley LPGA Classic, which was scheduled Oct. 1-4 at Pine Valley Golf Club in suburban Beijing, will not be played. In a news release, the LPGA did not elaborate on the reason but noted that the decision on the 2015 edition does not affect the longterm future of the tournament, which extended its contract with the LPGA for two years, through 2017.

South Korea’s Mirim Lee won the 2014 Reignwood event, and China’s Shanshan Feng won the debut, in 2013.
