Springfield, N.J. — The gravy train of popularity that Andrew ‘Beef’ Johnston has ridden this summer shows no signs of slowing down on the eve of the PGA Championship.
Having recently signed an endorsement deal with Arby’s and finishing eighth at the British Open at Royal Troon, Johnston is getting ready to compete this week at the PGA Championship at Baltusrol.
Beef is scheduled to play Thursday at 12:35 p.m. with Scott Piercy and Alex Noren, but Monday he had some equipment work done. Johnston had the name of several different steaks stamped into his previous 58-degree S-Grind lob wedge – words such as “Ribeye,” “Brisket,” “Filet Mignon” and “Porterhouse” – but the club needed to be replaced.
