Back injury no problem for Jason Day as Aussie dominates Thongchai Jaidee

AUSTIN, Texas — Down to one knee and seemingly out when we last saw him Wednesday, Jason Day entered Austin Country Club Thursday and gingerly went about his warm-up duties.

Then he thundered his opening tee shot onto the green 381 yards away and tossed down a 17-footer for eagle.

Any questions?

“That one was a good indication of how the back was going,” Day said after his resounding 5-and-4 thumping of Thongchai Jaidee in Round 2 of the WGC-Dell Match Play. “There wasn’t one shot where I felt (the back) today, which was good.”

Oh, at times Day walked cautiously, hardly charging up and down some of the steep slopes at Austin CC.
