Australia's Anthony Quayle drained a 20-footer for birdie on the 36th hole of his final match against UNLV's Shintaro Ban to win the 114th Pacific Northwest Men’s Amateur Championship Sunday in Sunriver, Ore.
“I just told myself I could make it, trying to keep positive thoughts in my mind," Quayle said. "I was a little bit nervous and just wanted to put a good stroke on it. It was straight uphill.”
Quayle's 1-up victory at Sunriver Resort came after he three-putted for bogey on the par-3 17th hole of Sunriver's Meadows course to bring the match back to all square.
