After three years as Georgia Regents University, the school formerly known as Augusta State got "Augusta" back in its name last month.
A board of regents voted unanimously in mid-September to change the school name from Georgia Regents University to Augusta University, and the excitement over the decision has already been palpable.
"To get the 'Augusta' name back as the lead name in the university is perfect," head men's golf coach Jack O'Keefe said. "It's definitely a win-win situation for everyone."
The original move from Augusta State to Georgia Regents University was precipitated by the merging of the Georgia Health Sciences and Augusta State universities in 2012.
