PALM HARBOR, Fla. – It’s been seven years since Vaughn Taylor played the Masters – the Augusta native’s hometown event – and he was understandably anxious to return following his victory last month at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.
Still, at 39, Taylor has learned that sometimes less is more when it comes to preparation for the year’s first major.
Taylor, who still lives in Augusta, planned to play a practice round at Augusta National when he returned from the West Coast but decided against it.
“I was going to go the week before last, but we got some rain and it was cold and I knew it was going to play just super long.
