Arizona State senior Jon Rahm was named the recipient of the McCormack Medal on Wednesday, given annually to the top-ranked amateur in the world.
Rahm will be exempt into the 2016 U.S. Open and Open Championship, provided he remains amateur. He is the first Spanish player to receive the award.
Among his many highlights this past season, Rahm broke the scoring record en route to a victory at the World Amateur Team Championship, tied for fifth at the PGA Tour’s Phoenix Open, won four titles at Arizona State and earned the Ben Hogan Award.
