As ‘King of West Coast Swing,’ Pat Perez plays with a purpose

SAN DIEGO — If it’s the “old West” that you’re talking about, then John Wayne and Clint Eastwood — from the “High Plains Drifter” days, that is — come to mind.

If it’s “The King of Swing” you’re talking about, then clearly you’re onto Benny Goodman.

But for the guy who represents “The West Coast Swing” on the PGA Tour, look no further than Pat Perez.

He considers it to be the best part of the schedule, and the record backs it up with near-perfect attendance for 14 seasons.

Since his rookie year in 2002, Perez, who turns 40 March 1, has great marks for showing up at the six stops that make up the full-field West Coast Swing.
