Since 1997, the Arnold Palmer Cup has matched top collegiate male golfers from the U.S. against their counterparts from Europe. Soon, the Ryder Cup-style competition will include women collegiate golfers.
Beginning in 2018, each Arnold Palmer cup team will consist of 12 men and 12 women, Palmer and the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Monday.
“I am delighted that this event, which we started at my Bay Hill Club and Lodge in 1997, has found such prominence in the world of collegiate golf," Palmer said in a release. "It no doubt will continue to flourish in the years to come with the addition of women and international players.
