Dawson Armstrong on Saturday holed-out for eagle from a greenside bunker to defeat Aaron Wise on the second sudden-death playoff hole and win the Western Amateur.
Wise had a 25-foot putt to extend the match but was unable to make it, giving Armstrong the win.
“When we got up there, my dad told me, ‘You’ve had a lot of great shots but none have gone in. Let’s try to knock this in,'" said Armstrong, who had his father on the bag.
“I ran up about two feet, saw it hit the pin and drop in, and that was really neat.
