Arizona’s Garner suspended in wake of sexual-assault charge, report says

University of Arizona golfer Andrew Garner faces one count of sexual assault after a 2015 incident in his hometown of Paradise Valley, The Arizona Republic reported Thursday, citing court records.

Garner, 20, was arrested Tuesday and booked into a Maricopa County jail, according to the report. It was not clear whether he still was being held.

Garner has been “suspended indefinitely” by the team, the Republic reported.

Last season as a redshirt freshman, Garner played in seven tournaments for the Wildcats, averaging 75.95 strokes in 20 rounds, according to the university. Arizona placed 10th in the Pac-12 Championships and finished the season at No.
