Arizona sophomore Krystal Quihuis began Tuesday's final round of the Wildcat Invitational four shots back of Arizona State freshman Linnea Strom on the individual leaderboard.
Quihuis then watched Strom stick her approach shot at the par-4 first hole at Sewailo Golf Club to about a foot and make birdie to stretch her lead to five strokes.
"I knew I had to bring my A-game," Quihuis said.
She did. Quihuis birdied the next hole and then went on to fire a closing 2-under 70 to win her first collegiate title by a shot over Strom, who shot 75 in the final round to finish at 6-under 210.
