Amy Ruengmateekhun lost 53 pounds in four and a half months. Life-changing stuff for anyone, let alone a professional athlete.
“What stood out the most to me,” said Ruengmateekhun, “I’m so much happier.”
While losing weight has been a goal of Ruengmateekhun’s for the past decade, the Symetra Tour player hit the wall last year after the second stage of LPGA Q-School. Officials changed the rules and banned carts for both practice rounds and tournament rounds in 2015, and by week’s end, Ruengmateekhun was spent. She missed advancing to the final stage by two strokes.
“It hit me really hard,” she said.
