Allenby on Sony return: 'Just being here right now is already overcoming a lot'

HONOLULU –– Last year, Robert Allenby left Honolulu beaten and battered.

The Australian PGA Tour veteran awoke in a park early Saturday morning of Sony Open week with his left eye bruised shut and several lacerations on his face from what he described as a robbery the evening before. By Sunday, the fourth round at Waialae Country Club was almost a sideshow as pictures of Allenby's bruised face circulated through social media along with more questions than answers.

Allenby remembered little of the incident, and what he did say to police was more what he was told by witnesses, including a homeless woman in the park who helped Allenby when he regained consciousness.
